Antique Brides

Those of you who have been by the studio know about my little obsession with vintage wedding photos. I have a whole new wall mural in my private office which Kendall just finished hanging for me... it looks so cool! So I just bought a few new additions which I'm just thrilled with. Joe thinks I'm totally nuts whenever another package arrives in the mail and I get all giddy, but I just can't help it! Lately I have been trying to find old candids or out-of-studio shots. Here's one I just recieved from an antiques dealer in Kiev...old-pics002How cool is this? I love the food all piled up on the table and the haphazard way everyone is piled in around the couple. You can just feel the gathering. According to the dealer the pic is about 90 years old!So here's another shot which interested me because of the couple's odd expressions. It came from Iowa and is from 1905. When I first saw it, it stood out to me because it seemed like there was tension between them. More than likely though they were just uncomfortable in the stiff pose and stuffy studio, but its so much more fun to read something into it! Apparently, the dealer felt the same way I did though because she said the pic always gave her the creeps and that the groom looked like an arrogant jerk, and the bride a meek innocent. She had the image labeled something to the effect of: confident jerk stares defiantly into the camera, while meek wife stares off, defeated. Yikes!Anyone see it?old-pics0011
