Jess & Ben's Rustic Chic Westport, MA Wedding at Home! (by Jen)
I love weddings at home. There is something about them that really makes you focus on the reason for the event, namely, the uniting of two people and their families and friends. All of the mush and the cheese, and the sniffly beautiful moments are so real and raw that they are almost tangible. The significance of the setting plus the fact that the couple must personally choose every single detail from linnens, lighting, and food to the floral arrangements in the bathroom, makes for a ceremony and party that in every way physically represents these two people. It's cool. Really cool. HERE HERE for weddings at home, 'nuf said. Here are my fav shots from Jess and Ben's "rustic chic" bash which was held at Ben's parents beautiful home in Westport, MA. Everything was perfect from Jess's perfect lace gown, the perfect moment when the couple saw each other for the first time, the perfect sunlight hitting the trees just-so for my portraits (and the perfect poison ivy I stood in to snap them from who's evil itch I was saved by Ben's Mom's Poison Ivy soap!) The food by Smoke and Pickles was delicious, inventive, and creatively presented. Sayles Livingston, as usual, created absolutely perfect floral decor and bouquets (see the pics below!) The couple went out of their way to include all of their loved ones, those present as well as those who have passed, and their toasts were hilarious and touching. Everyone danced the night away in what was definitely one of the wilder parties I've been to in a long time. Here we go...
