Weddings at Ocean House in Westerly, RI
This place is unreal. It took all I had not to avail myself of the Tito’s and Taco truck and just collapse in a heap of joy on the warm powdery sand.
This incredible couple planned their wedding in three days. Yes, that’s right, three days. With the Covid lockdown just beginning, they chose to tie the knot in a small wedding at Ocean House in Westerly while they were in town and near family, rather than waiting for a more opportune time. The scenery and the food couldn’t have been more beautiful, and this couple, (aside from nobly dedicating their careers to helping people through addiction recovery), are perfectly photogenic and as kind as possible. I’m not typically one for schmaltz, but seeing the way this family rallied around the couple to plan an especially-special, special-day made me cry.
Also, next time you are invited to a wedding at Ocean House, plan to arrive early so you can peruse the incredible artwork and decor. Ocean House has an extensive collection of works by Ludwig Bemelmans (author of the Madeline books), one mural which came off of the wall of his cafe in Paris, is pictured below and was located just outside this couple’s reception room.
