photography that tells your story

Need photos?

I got you. Here’s how I roll…

Whether for your wedding, your business, or a portrait session, my approach is the same… we talk about your project goals, I get to know you, we have a few laughs, and then I take care of everything. I can pose you, help you plan the best possible schedule, and bring your vision to fruition. You will love your photographs and the experience.

I have been fortunate enough to shoot an incredible variety of work over the years including weddings, portraits, editorial work, travel, products and people. I have joined workshops with some of the most famous photographers all over the world.

Choosing a photographer is not like shopping for jeans

If you want a new pair of jeans, you go to stores and try a few on, then check yourself out in the fitting room mirror. You know right away if the jeans you’re trying on flatter you. You can see exactly what you’re buying and you know if you like it.

If you want to hire a professional photographer, you can’t meet with a few different photographers to see exactly how your images will turn out. You don’t have the option to compare finished products. Essentially, there is no way to know exactly what you’re buying before you fork over the deposit. Hard decision, right?

The key is to pick someone with whom you feel you can be yourself, this is the foundation of great images.

Here are a few things to consider when comparing photographers…

  • Do I love the content of this photographer’s photos, or do I like the way they’re edited? Editing can be changed, the content can not.

  • Will my images be timeless, or trendy/dated, ten years from now?

  • Does this person’s portfolio show imagery from throughout a wedding day (including night shots and flash) and in varying weather conditions and seasons? (Shooting a beautiful bride in the golden afternoon June sun at an elegant venue is infinitely easier than shooting the same bride and venue in November, in the rain). Essentially, is your photographer comfortable shooting in any scenario and eventuality? What would they do if it rains or if their portrait time is cut down by half because everything is running late?

  • Will my body of images include context, candids and relevance, or will it mainly cover poses and formal moments of the couple? (Think about a picture of the best man’s speech… this can be shot literally, or it can be documented fully to include guest reactions, a funny gesture, the couple in the background laughing, and a tearful hug at the end)?

  • Can you see yourself having a drink with your photographer? Considering that you will spend many hours together, this is actually pretty important.

  • Who will your photographer use as a second shooter and what kind of equipment will that person have? Are they charging you to bring their little cousin who just got a Canon Rebel for Christmas?

Getting married?

Sweet!

I’m a wedding photographer.

Here’s how I roll…
We meet up, have a drink and a laugh, I get to know you and you get to know me. We have a shoot and you feel surprised at how comfortable you are and how much fun you have. We party at your wedding and I capture all of it… siblings that never show love showing it hardcore, tears, Nana on the dance floor, uncle Biff chasing bridesmaids, your cousins who recreate the catch scene from Dirty Dancing… all of it. After it’s all over, you get your pictures back and you’re like… “Holy mother, I had no idea that happened! My hair was on point! OMG that’s us!” Down the line, you start a new business, or procreate, or you’re feeling frisky and we shoot couples boudoir, or you stay exactly the same. Whatever path you take, I’ll be there to document it, and we will laugh some more and have a blast the whole way.

what’s the next step?
